My Parents' Visit

Mom and Dad came to visit me in Japan in late March, and stayed for three weeks. We traveled around for the first week, to some places in Japan that I'd never seen before. First we went down to Takamatsu on Shikoku. Here's a pretty park whose name I have completely forgotten (seeing as it's now November; you expect me to remember that long?). Notice how crazy the goldfish go when we give them food.

Next we went to Shikoku Mura, an "outdoor museum." It was a bunch of buildings and things from all over Shikoku that had been transported to one place, and we could walk around and look at them as though they were a real village. We could go inside many buildings and they were furnished with traditional stuff. The weather wasn't great, but because of that we practically had the place to ourselves. The vine bridge was SCARY, with huge gaps between the tiny slats, and it swayed a LOT, and was slippery. Eep! But so cool!

We then went to Hiroshima, where of course we visited the war memorial museum and stuff, but I didn't take any pictures there. I did, however, take a few at this garden, because it was prettier.

Miyajima isn't far at all from Hiroshima, so we went there next. Again, the weather was against us, but we saw some nice stuff, and of course the deer, which are almost as famous as the one's in Nara. I got a picture of one that stepped into a temple to take shelter from the rain.

When we came back to Kansai, we went to Eigamura, where I'd been before my with Okaasan. This time, though, we also looked at the TV museum they have there, which included TONS of ranger costumes. If any of you thought the Power Rangers were even close to unique, know that they were part of an ENORMOUS genre of shows featuring color-coded monster-fighting teams. Here's just a portion of their huge collection of costumes. Each of those red rangers is just there representing his team; each ONE of those guys was from a different show, and I did NOT take pictures of everything... and this was only one TV station's stuff.

I quite like this picture, but I don't remember at all where it's taken. Maybe it's near Kinkakuji? Or maybe it's not. But it's probably in Kyoto. Whatever. Mom and Dad:

Mom and Dad went all over Kyoto, and one of the places I accompanied them to was Kinkakuji.
