Dan's Visit
In August, Dan came to see me! He's not really much for sightseeing usually, but since he'd come all the way to Japan, we figured we ought to see at least a few sights, so one of the places we took him to was Ginkakuji, my favorite temple in Kyoto. Unfortunately, the main building was covered in scaffolding at the time, but the grounds are still really pretty. Here are a bunch of pictures that Emm took there with her camera:
Here are some pictures from the same place from my camera; I took all the ones I'm not in.
After seeing temples and stuff, we moved on to another type of Japanese culture - video games! Here's me playing my favorite Taiko no Tatsujin, and then Dan creaming some random guy at a fighter game. By the way, apparently it is NOT normal arcade etiquette here to just challenge strangers; he kinda freaked out. of course, that could also just be because Dan's foreign... These are also from Emm's camera.
And to wrap up the day, we did my favorite thing to do in Kyoto: fireworks! You can buy cheap fireworks at any combini, so we did the usual thing the locals do in the summer: grabbed a ton of fireworks and chuu-hai and headed down to the riverside! Here's Emm's batch of pictures:
And mine:
Another day, we went to an izakaya in Yagi.
The following pictures of Himeji Castle are all from Emm's camera. This is my favorite of the few castles in Japan that I've visited. I want to have parties in it. :)
